HSA figures show 6 Clare work fatalities in 2012

Over an 8th of all work place fatalities in Ireland during 2012, occurred in Clare.

Figures from the Health and Safety Authority show 47 people lost their lives in work place incidents over the past twelve months – 2 of them involved children

Here in Clare 6 people were killed in 2012-  two farmers died in separate incidents in May and November,  2 fishermen lost their lives at sea off the coast at Quilty in August.

A 58 year old construction worker was also killed after he came into contact with overhead power lines near Boston/Tubber  in September while a mechanic in Sixmilebridge died after another work place accident in March of 2012.

The agriculture sector recorded the highest number of deaths for the third year in a row
