8 Clare garda stations earmarked for closure this year will all be shut by the end of the month.
Broadford, Inagh, Mountshannon, Quin, Kilmihil, Labasheeda, Doonbeg and Lahinch are all set to lose their local station as part of budgetary measures announced last December.

It was believed that the closures would take several months to implement but senior garda officials here were informed by management over Christmas that the deadline is January 31st.
Concerned communities have already held meetings in Broadford and Inagh to discuss future policing plans, and West Clare Councillor Christy Curtin says communities throughout the county need reassurances now .
