Nurses at Ennis General are reporting an increase in waiting times at the hospital’s emergency department today.
Daily Trolley watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there are 12 people awaiting treatment at the county hospital today.
On Wednesday, when waiting times were at a similar level, officials from the HSE appealed to members of the public to visit their local GPs if possible, and only to attend the county’s A&E department in the event of an emergency.
Other hospitals in the region are also reporting significant pressures – there are 21 patients awaiting treatment at Limerick Regional, and a further 19 in a similar situation at University Hospital Galway.
