There are calls for a warning system to be put in place in unmanned rail crossing on the Ennis to Limerick line – after another train strike
Last Wednesday the 12.10 Galway to Limerick service was involved in a minor collision with a car after it clipped the vehicle’s tow bar at the Callura Level Crossing between Cratloe and Sixmilebridge.
This is the latest in a number of such rail strike on the line – last June a farmer had a lucky escape after his tractor collided with a train at a level crossing at Laghile near Cratloe.
In a statement to Clare FM Iarnród Éireann says the number of user operated level crossings has been cut dramatically over the past decade and the process is continuing – subject to funding.
