Plans for a private 60 million euro hospital on the outskirts of Ennis have been given the green light.
Ennis Town Council has approved planning permission- subject to a number of conditions – for the development which promises to create up to 700 full and part time jobs when operational.
A private firm, Duesbury Ltd, is planning the 97-bed hospital within the 19th-century protected structure that housed the former Our Lady’s Psychiatric Hospital on the northern outskirts of Ennis.
The plans comprise a full care hospital providing all medical services and ancillary accommodation , 12 consultant suites with 30 first-strategy recovery cubicles and office accommodation.
Those behind the project say it will generate 100 job during construction and then 600 when operational.
