Subcontractors owned thousands of euro are threatening to blockade the site of a new Pepsi development in Cork following the collapse of the main builders- Ennis based Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd.
The Clare firm ceased trading last week stating it wasn’t viable to continue due to an insufficient workload to cover overheads.

Its reported in today Irish Examiner that a number of sub-contractors had already supplied Brian McCarthy Contractors with building materials and labour worth thousands of euro, for which they are now unlikely to receive payment.
A spokesperson for Pepsi said the company was trying to resolve the situation.
