Clare Youngsters To The Fore In Art Competition

Three Clare youngsters have been named among the best young artists in Ireland in a national art competition.

10-year-old Ava Cullinan and 9 year-old Dylan Gilmartin, both students at St. Senan’s National School in Kilrush are among the 15 finalists at the Sightsavers Junior Painter Awards, along with 5 year old Molly Flynn who attends Dangan National School in Tulla.

The paintings of the three Clare children, all inspired by the theme ‘i:dream’, have been chosen from the thousands of entries from 170 schools nationwide, and will have their painting displayed at the Awards Day next month where the overall national winners will be selected.

Ava Cullinan, who was born with cataracts in both eyes and now wears specially designed glasses, was particularly commended for her work.
