New CSO figures show just over 10,000 people in the county are claiming some form of unemployment benefit, a monthly rise of 118.

While the numbers signing on is up across the county, the increases are modest in West, East and North Clare – in Ennis, however, an extra 89 people are signing on when compared to December.
The numbers do show a drop when compared to this time last year, but this is the third successive monthly rise in the live register – Independent Councillor for Ennis West James Breen says it’s worrying.
