The Taoiseach and Tánaiste are to meet survivors of the Magdalene laundries today – amid calls on the Government to make a full apology to the women.
It follows a report by Senator Martin McAleese who found clear evidence of state involvement in the way women were sent to the laundries, and in the way the work-houses were operated.

The Magdalene Survivors Together group says the meeting today is hugely important, and they hope it will lead to an official apology.
Another group – Justice for Magdalenes has asked for clarification on the nature of the meeting before deciding whether to attend.
