O’Malley fears Kilrush will be adversely affected by council abolition

The newest member of Kilrush Town Council says he fears the town will lose out, when the local authority is formally disbanded next year.

Fianna Fail Councillor Christy O’Malley was last night formally co-opted onto Kilrush Town Council, taking up the position vacant since the passing of Stephen O’Gorman in December.

Christy O’Malley previously served as a Councillor for 15 years, and now returns to the body until next summer when Town Councils are replaced by municipal districts under plans to reform local government.

He fears this is a move which will come as a blow to Kilrush
