CSO figures show 1000 euro fall in Clare incomes

The economic downturn hit Clare residents who saw their incomes drop by over a 1,000 euro in 2010.

New figures from the Central Statistics Office also reveal that the income of individuals in the banner county remains lower than the national average.

The average Clare person was paid over 22,000 year in 2010 – after taxes and social contributions were paid, this equated to a disposable income per person here of 18,100 euro.

The number is a thousand euro less than the year before, and even 1200 euro less than the state average – however, the drop in income recorded here wasn’t as severe as was the case in many other areas.  Nonetheless, 2010 marked the lowest level of disposable income for Clare workers since 2004.

While the income of Clare residents is in the bottom half of counties in Ireland, people in other counties are being paid less with incomes in Kerry and Donegal the lowest.

The CSO recorded the highest levels of disposable income in Dublin, Kildare, Cork and Limerick.
