Aviation boost for Shannon as US firm sets up maintenance base at Airport

The development of Shannon’s Aviation Services Centre has received a major boost as a US aircraft maintenance firm establishes new headquarters at the Mid West Airport.

North America Aircraft Services or  (NAAS) will serve its European, Middle East and Africa operations from the office, where three people are initially being based.

Its the first business to establish itself at Shannon Airport since its separation from the Dublin Airport Authority

The Texas-based company has also acquired Irish firm Usher Aviation Services, which undertakes maintenance on private aircraft.

Rose Hynes, chairman of Shannon Airport has described it as an  "historic milestone" in the airport’s bid to develop an International Aviation Services Centre.
