Clare Gardaí have recorded 10 theft from the cars of tourists outside Bunratty Castle and Folk park in the first four months of this year, there were five similar incidents in North Clare including the Poulenabrone Dolmen and the beaches at Fanore and Bishops Quarter.
Gardaí say their liaising with Shannon Heritage regarding the Bunratty incidents and are looking at the possibility of CCTV and a Business Watch scheme, and they’ve also notified car hire companies.
Local Councillor PJ Ryan says the Car rental firms could help to prevent further incidents,.
