HSE promises full investigation after hospital confusion over Ennis man’s body

The Health Service Executive is set to carry out a full investigation into how an Ennis widow was left wondering if her husband’s remains had been lost at Limerick Regional Hospital.

65 year old Joseph Connery died after sustaining a fall at home in Dalcassian Park on Saint Stephen’s night last and his organs were subsequently donated to several transplant patients.

His family were told the hospital would contact them when the ten hour operation was over but when his widow  rang the following day there was confusion over whereabouts of her husband’s body.

The remains of the father of four was subsequently located in the morgue and the HSE has apologised to the family adding there will be a thorough investigation.
