Funding of 50,000 euro has been announced for the planning and design of the 40 kilometre greenway in four phases.
The proposed cycle and walking route will run from Ennis to Ballymaquiggan, then on to Corofin, and Ennistymon while the final phase from Ennistymon to Lahinch is already complete.

The funding will cover planning and design work along old railway lines.
