Closing arguments in the trial of a North Clare man accused of murdering 43 year old Deirdre McCarthy over two years ago will be heard today.
Colm Deely, of School Road, Ballyvaughan, denies murdering the guest house worker between 11pm on March 27, 2011 and noon the following day. Deirdre McCarthy’s remains were later found washed up on Fanore beach after a three-day search.

Today the Central Criminal Court will hear closing speeches in the case from the prosecution and defence, before Justice Barry White delivers his charge to the jury , after which they will retire to consider a verdict.
