A 26-year-old man has died after he got into difficulty while swimming in a lake in Co. Cavan.
The man was with friends at Knocknagarton lake near Virginia at about 10 O’clock last night when he got into trouble.

His friends brought him ashore, and he was taken by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead later.
A post mortem examination will be carried out later today.
