A Clare senator has called for rogue bankers to be jailed in the wake of the Anglo Irish Tapes scandal.
In the latest revelations – released by the Irish Independent today –
The former Chief Executive of Anglo Irish Bank told a colleague that his strategy for getting money in was to go down to the Central Bank "with our arms swinging".
Mr Drumm threatened to shut Anglo down if there was no fresh influx of capital.
Fine Gael’s Martin Conway told the Seanad the white collar crime is not being dealt with, and he’s blaming a cut in the budgets of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Criminal Assets Bureau and the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
Senator Conway said it’s time their resources were restored to bring those responsible for our economic problems to justice.
