Clare’s dole queues saw another hike last month.

An extra 140 people signed on in the Banner County, the majority of those in Ennis, but the number of people on the dole queue remains considerably less than this time last year.

9849 Clare residents were claiming some form of unemployment benefit in Clare at the end of July, a monthly increase of 140

96 of those come from Ennis, where the dole queues are at it’s their longest level since last August.

East Clare has seen the next largest increase, a third successive monthly hike there – with an extra 36 people signing on last month.

11 more are now signing on in West Clare, thought there has been a small drop, 2, in the north of the county.

July traditionally sees a rise in the dole queues – one has been recorded every year since records began in 2002 – and these figures are much improved on last year.

In July of 2012, the number signing on in the Banner County was nearly 600 higher.
