Diverted Delta flight to resume journey today

A Delta Airlines flight from Italy to the US forced to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport yesterday is expected to resume its journey today.

The Boeing 767 with 209 passengers on board diverted to the Mid West yesterday afternoon due to engine problems- forcing the pilot to shut down on of the engines, but the aircraft  landed safely just after 4 pm

An Airline spokesperson has told Clare FM that passenger safety was their main concern and the emergency landing was a precautionary measure.

Passengers were accommodated in hotels in Clare and Limerick overnight and are expected to continue their journey on a new flight to Atlanta Georgia at 2 o’clock this afternoon.

Director of Operations at Shannon Airport Niall Moloney says emergency services were on hand but thankfully not required.
