Government accused of failing immigrants

The Government is being accused of failing immigrants who are the victims of domestic violence.

The Immigrant Council of Ireland says immigration law is leaving victims feeling scared to come forward because they believe it could impact their ability to remain in the country.

It also says there’s a lack of emergency accommodation or welfare support for victims.

Chief Executive Denise Charlton says the Government needs to show immigrants it’s there to help.
