Calls have been made for the HSE to scrutinise hospital waiting lists in the Mid West to see if people don’t intend on keeping appointments.
It comes as newly released figures show over 35% of patients did not attend Ennis General for scheduled consultant visits, the highest figure of any hospital in the region.

Ennis Fianna Fail Councillor Brian Meaney, a member of the Regional Health Forum, says he believes much of this is because people have given up waiting for appointments and have ‘gone private’, but he argues that it is adding to waiting times.
He’s calling on the HSE to investigate.
