Two separate investigations have been launched into the death of a 79 year old farmer in Co Westmeath who died after being attacked by a bull.
Michael Corcoran became trapped under the bull at Newtown in Mullingar just before 10 o’clock last night.

He had been trying to free the bull from a ditch after it had become trapped but it charged pinning the farmer down.
A post mortem will be carried out later and the scene will be examined. Both the Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating.
