The Irish Mortgage Holders Organisation says the Central Bank’s targets have had no effect on the number of homeowners in mortgage arrears.
Official figures published from the Central Bank this morning show that almost 98 thousand homeowners are now in arrears for three months or more. That’s almost 13 per cent of all mortgage holders.

The number in arrears for more than six months or more – increased by almost four per cent between March and June.
The figures come despite the Central Bank’s warning that it will penalise banks if they fail to offer a way out to struggling householders.
