The trade union representing Ireland’s junior doctors is to meet with the HSE today to discuss working hours.
The Irish Medical Organisation has been balloting members over whether to step up its campaign to end their current system of lengthy shifts.

The organisation says junior doctors can sometimes work up to 100 hours a week, in direct contravention of their European Working Time Directive.
They are now calling on the health authority to ensure shifts are no longer than 24 hours.
