Clare TD Claims Current Dispute At Aer Lingus May Damage Business

Clare’s Labour TD has claimed Aer Lingus’ decision not to bow to union demands on cabin crew staffing levels for new transatlantic services could hurt the company in the long-term.

The LRC is to host talks between staff and the company regarding the future of it’s base at Clare’s international airport, which Aer Lingus says is to close because it is no longer commercially viable.

The carrier made the decision after failing to come to a rostering agreement with workers on new transatlantic services on smaller Boeing 757 aircraft – staff say at least five cabin crew are required to guarantee comfort and safety, but the company wants four.
