Clare Gardai are warning homeowners across the county to make sure their home heating oil is stored securely, as the winter takes hold.
35 thefts of fuel have been reported across Clare in the first 10 months of this year, the vast majority of these from homes.
Clare’s Chief Superintendent John Kerin is warning that he expects this to rise as we enter the colder season, and as people begin to top up their oil tanks.
He’s asking people to take measures and ensure their own oil tanks are secure.
