The Garda Commissioner says the fraud squad is now leading the investigation into the hacking of credit card details at an Ennis-based firm.
The Data Protection Commissioners says full details of 376 thousand credit card were taken during the security breach at Loyalty Build on the Station Road, including those belonging to 70 thousand customers of Supervalu and Axa Ireland.
The company says it was the victim of a "sophisticated" criminal attack.
Speaking at a conference of senior Gardaí in Templemore, Commissioner Martin Callinan said those behind the hacking may be operating out of a different country – and that adds to the difficulty of the investigation
