Officials at Shannon Airport are hoping the removal of the travel tax and the existing US pre-clearance facilities will see it used as a stop-over for British passengers heading to America.
100,000 additional passengers will fly between Shannon and the UK next year, after Aer Lingus Regional’s announcement of expended services to Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester, and the Airport hopes some of these will fly onwards to destinations in the US.

This could also encourage those people to spend time in the MidWest, boosting businesses and tourism here.
