The Property Tax has been described as a "con job" at a meeting of Ennis Town Council, after members were told it’s still unclear how much – if any of the money paid by Clare residents – will be put back into the County Town next year.
The Ennis Town Manager has postponed plans for a December Budget Meeting until the New Year, as he explained that with the abolition of town Councils due by May’s local elections, the council hasn’t been told how much money will be provided for local services in 2014.
Ennis Independent Councillor Tommy Brennan hit out at the government for a lack of accountability on where the tax paid by Clare homeowners is going.
