Up to 300 new Gardai are to be hired next year.
The first recruitment campaign in five years has been formally launched today – with the first intake of 100 trainees expected in July.

A moratorium on the hiring of new officers has been in place since May 2009.
Applications for the Garda jobs are now being accepted through the publicjobs dot ie website.
