Clare County Council admits problems with a foul odour in Shannon will last throughout Christmas and into the New Year.
Works to alleviate the issue begin at the Trad-aree Point treatment plant this weekend, and the desludging operation will last for a number of weeks.

During this time, the Council warns the smell will be generated because of the nature of the work, but the public are being assured there’s no health risk involved.
Senior Engineer with Clare County Council Sean Ward is confident the problem will ease once the project is finished.
