The Health Minister is being asked to immediately restore discretionary medical cards to those most in need in Clare.
The issue was raised by Fianna Fail members of Clare County Council this week who say they’ve received numerous complaints from seriously ill constituents and people with disabilities who’ve had their free medical care withdrawn.
The HSE insists the guidelines for discretionary medical cards have not been altered, but East Clare Councillor Pat Hayes says he knows of many cases where vulnerable people have been caused extra hardship by their withdrawal
