A local election candidate for Kilrush is calling for a town based candidate to be elected to Clare County Council to be a voice for issues like local unemployment and the fight against crime.
Marian McMahon Jones, a member of Kilrush Town Council, has been added on to the Fine Gael Party ticket in the new Kilrush Municipal District, joining party colleagues from Cross, and Kildysart and says it’s vital to elect an urban based councillor, particularly as town councils in West Clare are being abolished.
The Kilrush Business-woman says proper representation is needed to boost employment in the town, and to help the area move on from social problems and crime.
