Micheál Martin Calls On Europe To Do More For Ireland

The leader of the opposition claims that Europe can do more to speed up Ireland’s economic recovery, after major failings in European policy led to the need for the bailout.

In his televised address welcoming the end of the troika programme, the Fianna Fail Leader Micheál Martin said the impact of the crisis is still being felt across the country and fixing the public finances is only part of the solution.

He feels Europe should do more, by delivering the retrospective debt deal promised in June last year, and the ECB should return all profits from Irish bonds to this country.

Deputy Martin feels that the government should create more jobs.
