Clare County Council is being urged to see if European funding can be sourced to help tackle overgrown hedgerows on the side of the county’s roads.
Overhanging hedges and trees have become a thorny subject for the local authority in recent times.

Reduced funding has seen the Council scale back it’s own hedge-cutting programs while it also came under fire in the Dáil for sending what were described as ‘threatening’ notices to landowners about trees on their land.
Sixmilebridge Independent representative PJ Ryan wants the County Council to ask Brussels for help in trimming this problem.
