New York Parade Honour Exciting For Tulla

The chairman of the Tulla Pipe Band says the prospect of the group leading next year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York ‘as big as it gets.’

The world-famous East Clare band has been invited to the Big Apple by the Claremen’s Association of New York, which celebrates its 125th anniversary.

In honour of this, the Clare contingent and the Tulla Pipe Band is expected to lead what is the world’s second-biggest St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Clare County Council is expected to contribute to the costs of sending around 30 band members to New York for the event, while local fundraising efforts are continuing for what chairman Fintan Leamy says is a prestigious honour.
