Clare Gardai are warning drivers here that there will be no excuse if they are caught drinking and driving this Christmas.
While many will be celebrating throughout the festive period, Gardai say they will be out in force and staging a number of checkpoints throughout the county.
Gardai are advising people who do go out to leave the car at home and arrange alternative transport, in order to avoid the risk of picking up penalty points and putting the lives of road users in danger.
