Carey Calls for Long Term Solution to Ballycar Flooding Crisis

The Office of Public Works has been asked to take proactive action in dealing with flooding at Ballycar near Newmarket on Fergus.

The Ennis-Limerick rail-line has been shut since early February because of flooding there, while five families have also been cut off, and have been forced to cross fields to get to their homes.

Clare County Council has promised to carry out alleviation works once water subsides, provided money is made available, but now a Clare government TD says the OPW should appoint an official to deal with the issue.

Fine Gael's Joe Carey says a long term solution is needed.
