An elderly American citizen has died on board a flight that diverted to Shannon Airport last evening.
The man in his eighties was declared dead at the scene after the flight touched down in Shannon at around 5:40 yesterday. It's believed he had a suspected heart attack.

Meanwhile, a second passenger – who developed cardiac problems after the crew requested an emergency landing at Shannon – is being treated at University Hospital in Limerick.
The Alitalia flight from Rome to New York was about 100 kilometres west of Clare when the crew declared an emergency and diverted to Shannon, where ambulance paramedics and a doctor were standing by.
