The Public Expenditure Minister has vowed that the government will take action following the revelation that the remains of 800 babies and children are buried in a disused septic tank beside a former mother and baby home in Tuam, County Galway.
A cross-departmental initiative has already begun – this will form the basis for an inquiry into the discovery and the Dáil has been promised an update before it's summer recess.
