Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a crash on the outskirts of Lisdoonvarna which has claimed the lives of two motorcyclists.
The accident occured at around 6:45 last evening, and saw two motorbikes collide about half a mile from Lisdoonvarna, on the N67 Ennistymon Road.
Two units of the fire service from Ennistymon were dispatched to the area, along with ambulance personnel and Gardaí – both men, who were driving the vehicles, were pronounced dead at the scene while a female pillion passenger was also airlifted to Galway University Hospital with what Gardaí say are non-life threatening injuries.
Gardaí have not released the identies of the men, but it's believed that both come from outside of Ireland. One may have been living here.
The road has been closed, and will remain closed for a number of hours to allow for a forensic examination which is taking place this morning.
