Dublin shooting not linked to gangland crime

Gardaí say last night's shooting in Dublin, which has left a child in a serious condition in hospital, is an isolated incident and they don't believe it's linked to organised crime.

A six year old boy is being treated at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, after he was shot in the neck in the Croftwood housing estate in Ballyfermot at around 10 o'clock last night.

He was wounded after men pushed open the door of a house and shot into the hallway – missing their intended target.

Gardaí say they're still unsure whether there were one or two suspects involved – but say they're following a definite line of enquiry.
