Clare FM Honoured In New York

The story of a homeless man who died on the streets of Ennis last year has led Clare FM to international awards success.

The station's flagship current affairs show, Morning Focus with John Cooke, was among the winners at the New York Festivals Radio Awards held in Manhattan last night, for an entry entitled 'Life and Death on the Streets' which featured the plight of Josef Pavelka who died in May of 2013.

The 52 year old Czech national received widespread media attention when it was revealed in court that he had been sleeping in public toilets in Ennis.

Stations from 32 countries entered the New York Festivals Radio Awards this year.
