Gardaí Investigate Discovery Of Man’s Body In North Clare

Gardaí are treating the discovery of a man's body at a quarry near the Cliffs of Moher as suspicious.

Garda Crime Scene Investigators from the Clare Division are carrying out an examination of the area, which remains sealed off after the discovery of a man's remains.

The Office of the State Pathologist has been contacted.

It's expected that the man's body will be removed to University Hospital Limerick later for a post mortem and formal identification.

However, Garda sources have confirmed to Clare FM that they are treating the man's death as suspicious.

Officers here are also liaising with colleagues in Galway and Athlone who have been investigating the disappearance of Adrian Folan, a 41-year old Connemara man who was last seen in Athlone Town last Wednesday night.

Officers had been concerned about his wellbeing, while this morning a man in his forties was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.  He's being held at Mill Street Garda Station in Galway city.
