Clare Gardaí have issued a warning about a distraction theft scam that has reported to have taken place in Ennis.

The woman targeted on this occasion retained all of her property, but Gardaí now want the public to ensure they don't fall victim.

The woman in question was returning to her car at the Dunne's Car Park last week when she was approached by a man, who did not appear to be Irish,

He told her that there was a nail suck to one of the tyres of her car, and brought her from the drivers' side to the passenger's side to show her.

However, as he was attempting to distract her in this way, another woman reached into the vehicle in an attempt to take some items.

The near-victim realised what was happening, and confronted those responsible.

The pair, and another person, quickly fled the area.

Gardaí in Ennis are now urging people to be aware, and to report any suspicious activity to 065 6848100.
