The families of Primary School goers in Ennis will have a new traffic system to contend with when they return next week.
Clare County Council has begun installing a new one way traffic system to improve traffic safety on Lifford Road.
lare County Council launched a public consultation about traffic flows on Lifford road and New Road earlier this year.
The plans have been put together based on that analysis and current traffic flows.
Mayor of Ennis Cllr Johnny Flynn says there were some serious concerns about, the safety of youngsters attending primary school, that have led to the works.
He also says previous complaints from the emergency services have also influenced the new scheme.
The works on the Lifford Road also known as Dr Daly Road will take about a fortnight to complete – however it's hoped a significant amount of will be completed early this week.
Dr. Daly Road runs alongside the Fair Green from New Road at the CBS Primary School to Lifford Road near St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The new one-way system will be one-way northbound on Dr. Daly road.
