The life and times of the inventor of the submarine are being honoured in his native Liscannor today.
John P Holland died 100 years ago this month after becoming the first person to have his inventions in use in the American, British, Dutch and Japanese naval services.

Today a memorial stone will be unveiled at Liscannor Harbour while a photography exhibition and a film will also be on display.
The Minister for the Marine Simon Coveney and American and Japanese representatives will be present at the ceremony.
