The remains are that of a man – and were removed to the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital, in Navan.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out by the State Pathologist Dr. Cassidy.

Gardai are now awaiting the results of DNA analysis as the process of identifying the deceased continues.

A burnt out shell of a car was also recovered at the scene.

It’s understood the car was reported stolen in the Kells area in 2003.

A technical and forensic examination at the scene has now concluded.

Gardai say their investigation is ongoing.
