The appointment of a new American Ambassador to Ireland has raised hopes of a long term solution to the issue of undocumented Irish.
The Chairperson of the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen says the inauguration of Kevin O'Malley 21 months after his pre-decessor resigned is significant.

Mr O'Malley was approved by the US Senate overnight and is expected to move to Ireland in coming weeks.
Speaking to Clare FM from Washington Deputy Breen says he expects to work closely with the new ambassador on immigration reform and hopes a resolution will be reached in 2015.
